Groupware / Collaboration

Collaboration is the ability to suport employees/contractors working together on a project and produce a result due to their combined efforts. This is of even greater importance when they are located in virtual offices and cannot just walk down the hall to share a document. The software to support collaboration is often called Groupware. Collaboration also depends on good communications.

Our Recommendations:

	Skype supports collaboration with add-on packages for document sharing. All done in a very secure manner. We like Skype for collaboration as the collaborative software builds on Skype's fantastic communication abilities.
	Microsoft is starting to offer their office applications online for $50/user per year. This price includes any upgrades.
	This is an award winning service by Cisco, the networking company. It allows you to make presentations over the web to large numbers of people. They get to see your slides on their computer and call into a toll free number with any questions for you to address. So, if you want to make a sales presentation to several prospective clients at the same time without travel, this is worth a hard look.
	HearMe supports document and application sharing for up to 150 users. Powerpoint slide shows can also be shown to all.
	Google Apps come in two flavors. The basic level is free and has IM, email, calendaring, and word-processing, spreadsheet, and slide shows. The advantage of being online is that all your employees can access the documents. The basic level has 1GB of storage per user while the advanced has 25GB/user and costs $50/user/year.
